Officer's service dress trousers : New South Wales Volunteer Forces
Description
Dark blue wool serge trousers with wide scarlet stripe extending down side seams. Side pockets at each side seam lined with white cotton twill. Illegible blue writing on left pocket lining. Celluloid buttoned fly and waist with buttons marked 'W. CHORLEY & Co. SYDNEY'. Waist edge trimmed with black cotton twill tape and lined with striped cotton twill and glazed black linen. Back darts reinforced with black cotton twill tape. Fly lined with glazed linen and black cotton twill. Legs are straight and bottom edge of trouser leg has been folded up.
History / Summary
This pattern of trousers is similar to the type worn by both engineer and artillery officers as the width of the scarlet stripe is common to both.
