Jacket : New South Wales Women's Fire Auxiliary
Description
Lightweight grey wool single breasted jacket fastening with four large grey bakelite buttons. The jacket has shoulder straps fastening with smaller grey bakelite buttons and a patch pocket with a rectangular flap over each hip. Each pocket has an inverted pleat running down the centre. The body of the jacket and the shoulder straps are lined with grey polished cotton, and the sleeves with white, blue and khaki striped cotton. Each shoulder strap bears a white metal 'FB' title. The left lapel bears a white metal badge showing a fire engine with a fireman's helmet superimposed over it.
History / Summary
The Women's Fire Auxiliary (New South Wales) was formed in 1941 as part of the war effort during the Second World War. It was disbanded in late 1945.
