Fur felt hat : New South Wales Women's Fire Auxiliary
Description
Australian Women's Fire Auxiliary (New South Wales) steel grey fur felt, broad brimmed hat, with a matching cotton grosgrain band fastened with a flat bow on the right side. Attached to the front, as a 'badge' is a silver button, made by Stokes & Son, Melbourne, with the shank removed, bearing 'FB' in ornate intertwined letters. A white artificial silk sweatband inside the hat is printed in silver with the manufacturer's name, 'HENDERSON'.
History / Summary
The Women's Fire Auxiliary (New South Wales) was formed in 1941 as part of the war effort during the Second World War. It was disbanded in late 1945.
