Skirt : New South Wales Women's Fire Auxiliary
Description
Lightweight, unlined grey wool A-line skirt, cut in two panels. The skirt is shaped at the waist with two long darts at the front and back, and has an inverted pleat at the front. The waist opens at each side seam and is fastened and adjusted by two self fabric tabs extending from the front waistband, which fit into white metal slides attached to the back waistband. The hem and side opening are bound with grey polished cotton.
History / Summary
The Women's Fire Auxiliary (New South Wales) was formed in 1941 as part of the war effort during the Second World War. It was disbanded in late 1945.
