Description

Light blue Australian Federal Police short sleeved shirt with black shoulder straps and two breast pockets with anodised silver buttons. Each shoulder strap has been embroidered in white with 'ADVISOR'. At the top of each sleeve is an Australian Federal Police patch showing the Australian coat of arms and 'AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE' below. Above the right breast pocket is a magnetic blue and white plastic name tag with 'STEVE COLLINS' and a ribbon bar for the Victorian Police Long Service Medal. Above the left breast pocket is a Group Bravery Citation and a ribbon bar for the Police Overseas Service Medal, the National Medal and the United Nations Force in Cyprus Medal. Written in black texta on the inside tail of the shirt is 'COLLINS 11319'.

History / Summary

Worn by Steven Collins during his service with the Participating Police Force, part of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI). Collins served as superintendent with the first deployment of personnel to the Solomon Islands in July 2003, and also later in 2005 as an advisor. Led by the Australian Federal Police, the Participating Police Force commenced Operation Helpem Fren in the Solomon Islands in 24 July 2003. Their role was to restore basic law, order and security to the Islands, remove illegally held weapons from the community and disarm and neutralise key militants.
