Pair of wooden blocks found in fuselage : Avro Lancaster Mk I Bomber 'G for George'
Description
Two pieces of green painted wood, both have five 5mm holes drilled through them.
History / Summary
Both these pieces of wood are painted in the distinctive 'British Interior Green' colour indicating that they were used as part of an internal fitting on G for George. This colour was chosen by the British Authorities on account of its matt (drab) non-reflective surface. Both of these relics were found inside the fuselage of George when it was completely conserved and restored by Memorial staff in the late 1990's and early 2000.
