1. Defoe shipbuilding Company, Bay City Michigan USA, 16 December 1967. Commission day for the RAN new guided missile destroyer HMAS Brisbane. Among guests was Rear Admiral Roy Benson USN. Admiral Benson hands over to J K Waller nephew of Captain Hector Waller who went down with HMAS Perth in the Sunda Strait in 1942. Captain Alan Willis reads the ship's commissioning warrant. 2. HMAS Albatross, Nowra, NSW. RAN Fleet Air Arm Nos 805 and 816 Squadrons begin an intensive training program while HMAS Melbourne undergoes a major refit at Garden Island. Shows A-4 Skyhawks and S-2 Trackers take offs and aerials with a voice over giving the history of both squadrons. 3. Flashback to HMAS Melbourne as she farewells the Gannet and Sea Venom aircraft. Voice over of the history of the Fleet Air Arm while showing Sea Venom formation flying aerials. Melbourne's commander A M Synnot takes the place of the Flight Officer to signal off the Gannets and Sea Venoms for take off. Flypast by Gannets and Sea Venoms. 4. The fast troop carrier HMAS Sydney arrives with troops and equipment in Vung Tau South Vietnam. US Army Skycrane heavy lift helicopter is used to unload heavy equipment such as trucks. Sydney normally needs to stay only one day in Vung Tau before her return voyage. US Chinook helicopter landing on Sydney to pick up troops. Also at anchor in Vung Tau is HMAS Sydney's escort HMAS Yarra. 5. The Royal Australian Naval College HMAS Creswell at Jervis Bay, NSW, hosts fifty high school students for a week as guests of the RAN. Part of their visit includes time onboard the training ship HMAS Queenborough.
