Collection relating to the Second World War service of 413717 Flying Officer Neil Allason Lambell DFC, Royal Australian Air Force. Collection consists of one "Observer's Air Gunner's and W/T Operator's Flying Log Book" (Form A.73) kept by Lambell, covering dates 8 February 1942 to 20 April 1944. It covers missions over Aachen, Augsburg, Berlin, Brunswick, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt, Hannover, Kassel, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Modane, Schweinfurt and Stuttgart.
Biographical information: Lambell enlisted 12 September 1941; completed training on Avro Anson and Fairey Battle aircraft at Somers, Mount Gambier, Sale and Parkes between September 1941 and July 1942; embarked 24 August 1942 for overseas service, arrived United Kingdom 18 November 1942; joined 103 Squadron RAF 2 October 1943; joined 576 Squadron RAF 3 March 1944; discharged 21 February 1945; Lambell was awarded Distinguished Flying Cross, 6 June 1944.
