The original grave of 1630 Trooper (Tpr) Richard Watson, 12th Reinforcements, 8th Light Horse, of Ararat, Vic. A sawmiller prior to enlistment on 26 July 1915 he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ascanius on 10 November 1915. Tpr Watson was killed in action on 23 December 1916 at Magdhaba, Egypt, aged 36 years.
