Studio portrait of 1630 Trooper (Tpr) Richard Watson, 8th LIght Horse, of Yarra Junction, Victoria. A sawmiller prior to enlistment, Tpr Watson embarked with the 12th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Ascanius on 10 November 1915. He was killed in action during an assault on Turkish defences at Magdhaba, Egypt, on 23 December 1916, aged 36.
