Turkish identity disc : Lone Pine
Description
Oval tin identity disc marked in Arabic script with a series of numbers and letters. The legible numbers are 4, 5 and 96. The top of the disc is pierced with two suspension holes which appear to have been made with a nail. Both front and rear surfaces are stained with accretion.
History / Summary
One of three Turkish identity discs recovered from the Lone Pine trench system in 1919 by Charles Bean and the Australian Historical Mission upon their return to Gallipoli.
