Pair of colour patches : Private S Henderson, 10 Infantry Battalion, AIF
Two rectangular wool flannel colour patches, purple over navy blue for 10 Battalion, AIF.
Associated with the service of 3171 Private Sydney Henderson. Henderson was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1897 and was a labourer at enlistment in the AIF on 16 July 1915. He embarked for Egypt aboard HMAT Ballarat on 14 September as a member of the 10th Infantry Battalion - 10 Reinforcements.
Henderson was formally taken on strength by 10 Battalion on 25 November at Mudros before travelling to Alexandria aboard HMAT Seang Bee. He transferred to 50 Battalion on 26 February 1916 and embarked for the British Expeditionary Force on 5 June. Henderson arrived at Marseilles on 12 June but was killed in action on 20 November 1916. He was buried at Flers but later reinterred at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez.
