Seaman's blue woollen jumper : Seaman E G Short, Sea Cadet Brigade
Description
Seaman's dark blue wool serge jumper with square fall collar. A length of dark blue worsted tape, used to tie a neck scarf in place, is tied around a short bar of buttonhole stitch sewn across the bottom of the front neck opening.
History / Summary
Edgar George 'Ted' Short was born in Waverley, Sydney in 1921 and attended Sydney Grammar, Waverley Public and Randwick High Schools.
Short was a member of the Sea Cadets during the 1930s and was working as a toolmaker during the Second World War. This was a reserved occupation during the war and as a result, he had no military service.
