Studio portrait of 5089 Private Henry Archibald Donaldson, 5th (later 58th) Battalion of Heyfield, Victoria. A teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 1 April 1916. On 13 March 1917, he was killed in action at Flers, France, aged 31. He is buried in the Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France.
