Studio portrait of 2152 Private (later Sergeant) Sidney Rupert Green, 5th Battalion of Echuca, Victoria. A school teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. On 31 October 1916, aged 19, he was killed in action at Flers, France when struck by a piece of shrapnel shell. He is buried in the AIF Burial Ground, Flers, France.
