Winter mess dress trousers : Brigadier F D Buckland, Australian Army
Pair of black wool barathea officer's mess dress trousers with 40mm wide scarlet wool cloth welts down each side seam. The trousers have a five button fly, single button waist fastening, double pleats on each side of the front opening, slash pockets in each side seam, a small welt change pocket set beneath the proper right waistband, a single welt pocket over the right hip, and six pairs of buttons sewn around the outside waist to take braces, of worn. All buttons are of black plastic. The waistband is lined with blue patterned cotton and brown linen. The pocket bags are made from heavy cream cotton twill. One pocket bag is stamped '161 (broad arrow)' and another marked 'Buckland'.
