Group portrait of a crew of an Avro Lancaster aircraft of 156 Squadron, RAF, standing in front of their aircraft. Identified, left to right: 21442 Pilot Officer Robert Ernest Inglis, rear gunner, of Ashfield, NSW, enlisted on 8 July 1940 and killed while on operations over Berlin, Germany on 2 December 1943; 411685 Flight Sergeant Neville John Edmonds, wireless operator, of Cobar, NSW, enlisted on 24 May 1941 and killed while on operations over Berlin, Germany on 2 December 1943; J/22068 Flying Officer J V Scrivener, substitute bomb aimer, of Canada, captured and taken prisoner of war (POW) after being shot down over Nurnberg on 31 March 1944; 409356 Warrant Officer Reginald Russell Wicks, pilot, of Caulfield, NSW, enlisted on 15 August 1941 and killed while on operations over Berlin, Germany on 2 December 1943; 420351 Flight Sergeant Norman Macdonald, of Sydney, NSW, enlisted on 11 October 1941 and was captured and taken POW after being shot down over Berlin, Germany, on 2 December 1943. He was held in Stalag IV-B, one of the largest POW camps in Germany.
