Studio portrait of 2413 Corporal Cornelius John Mahony, 17th Battalion. A carpenter of Wee Waa, NSW, he enlisted on 7 July 1915 and sailed with the 5th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Themistocles on 5 October 1915. He was killed in action, aged 34, on 9 October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
