Rodda, Norman (Corporal, b.1919 - d.1943)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX43526 Corporal Norman Rodda, Administrative Headquarters, Malaya, c.1944-1945.
Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one card from Mrs H. Hunter [identity unknown] to Mrs. Louisa Rodda, dated c late 1944-early 1945. In her card to Mrs Rodda, Mrs Hunter sends well wishes for Christmas and the New Year. She also writes that she has not had any further news about Mrs Rodda’s son, Corporal Norman Rodda (who was a prisoner of war in Malaya), and refers to previous radio messages.
Private Norman Rodda enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on 25 August 1941. He served as a clerk with the AIF Administrative Headquarters in Malaya, but was captured as a prisoner of war when Singapore fell to the Japanese in February 1942. Private Rodda died of malaria on 29 September 1943, and is buried at Thanbyazayat War Cemetery, Myanmar.
