Hand coloured portrait of WX4042 Private George Laurence Beattie, 2/16th Battalion. A labourer of Fremantle, WA, he enlisted on 30 May 1940. He was killed in action in Syria, aged 32, on 19 June 1941 and is buried at Beyrouth War Cemetery.
