Studio portrait of Captain (Capt) Eric Ernest von Bibra, 13th Light Trench Mortar Battery, of Launceston, Tas. Capt von Bibra enlisted as private number 783 with the 12th Battalion on 25 August 1914 aged 19 years. He was wounded on numerous occasions in France and was promoted to captain on 9 November 1916. After being wounded again Capt von Bibra returned to Australia and was discharged. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on 2 January 1939 and became a Knight Bachelor (KB) on 1 June 1953 as Agent-General for Tasmania in London. He died in 1958.
