Description
Collection relating to the Vietnam War service of 1731097 Private Allen James May, 6 Royal Australian Regiment. Collection consists of an eight page handwritten letter (and envelope) by Pte May to his family at home. It is dated 25 August 1966 and describes in detail his experience of fighting with D Company, 6 RAR in the Battle of Long Tan on the 18 August 1966. Also included are two contemporary documents written by May describing the same event; as well as two poems written by May - "Forever in my mind" and "The Nasho's Lament" and a 1966 military pass.
