Description

Collection relating to 47 Private Sidney (also spelt Sydney) Joseph Cossart and his service with the 3 Queensland Mounted Infantry Contingent, during the conflict in South Africa, 1899-1902 (Boer War). Comprises two original diaries believed to have been in the possession of Cossart, his Legion of Frontiersmen Certificate of Enrolment 1912, his Marksman's Certificate 1912, a hand drawn map titled 'Sketch Showing Positions of our troops and the Enemy at Elands River August 4th - 17th ,1900', and five newspaper clippings, including two obituaries written after Cossart's death in 1954.
