Description
The dead bodies of North Vietnamese soldiers of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) who had been killed in fighting in and around Binh Ba are gathered for burial in a mass grave. They had been killed in a battle two days before, on 6 June 1969, during Operation Hammer. 34812 Major Rex Rowe, the Officer Commanding 1 Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), uttered some 'simple words of final committal' in the presence of sappers from his unit before a small D4 bulldozer covered the bodies.
