Framed portrait of 413065 Sergeant (Sgt) George Bisgood Wootten RAAF, 14 Squadron RAF. An industrial chemist of Mosman, NSW, prior to enlistment, he was the eldest son of Major General G. F. Wootten, CBE, DSO. Sgt Wootten was killed when his Maurader aircraft crashed during a training flight near Abu Sueir Aerodrome in Egypt on 10 May 1943. Five other crew members were also killed in the accident. A pair of RAAF pilot's wings brevet is set above Sergeant Wootten's portrait within the frame.
