Description

Square white woven cotton handkerchief. A blue border encloses a panel featuring an alphabet poem printed in blue, red and black with alternating lines in red and blue. The poem reads: 'A stands for ALLIES who fight side by side, B Stands for BELGIANS who nobly have died, C is for CANADA sends soldiers and grain, D is for DREADNOUGHTS which plough thro' the main, E is for ENGLAND the home of the free, F stands for FRANCE our brave ally is she, G is for GERMANY land of our foe, H is for HEROES who'll beat them, we know, I is for INDIANS who came from afar, J stands for JELLICOE loved by 'Jack Tar', K stands for KITCHENER calm and serene, L is for LONDON of cities the Queen, M for our MOTHERLAND our "home sweet home", N are for NATIONS who strive 'cross the foam, O stands for OCEAN its ruler are we, P is for PARIS most lovely to see, Q is for QUERY which asks, Why this War? R says for RIGHT above might - nothing more, S for a SUBMARINE down in the deep, T for the TRENCHES our men gain and keep, U for the UNIFORMS khaki clad men, V is for VICTORY again and again, W's for WOMEN who give of their best, X sign of RED CROSS a work always blest, Y for the YOUTHS who will win us 'THE DAY', Z for the ZEPPELIN we don't fear!
