Studio portrait of 2621 Private (Pte) Frederick James Basset, 52nd Battalion. A platelayer of Murwillumbah Nsw, Basset enlisted on 22 May 1916. He embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916 with the 6th Reinforcements. On the 15 May 1917 Pte Basset was wounded in action and returned to Australia on 18 October 1917.
