Description

"Family particulars and experiences during my life" by Major Austin Edgar Bunbury (V50174). Trained as an officer at the Royal Military College, Duntroon and appointed to the 7th battalion. The battalions were sent to France to give support to the trenches. Major Bunbury was injured by a shell and taken to England. Marked as permanent unfit for further general service and sent to stay with Lord Darnley (where he went to meet the King and Queen) and then Lady De La Rue. Applied to return home and left in July 1918. Rejoined Surrey Hill Battalion as a Company Commander. Discharged in 1946.
