Description
Studio portrait of 549 Private (Pte) Reginald George Marshall (standing), and an unidentified lance corporal, both of the 1st ANZAC Cyclist Battalion. A native of Bathurst, NSW, Marshall worked as a farm hand prior to enlistment. He embarked with the 4th Reinforcements from Sydney aboard HMAT Anchises on 24 August 1916. Later transferring to the 24th Machine Gun Company, Pte Marshall died of wounds near Ypres on 30 September 1917, aged 25. He was buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
