Description

Studio portrait of 7036 Private (Pte) David George Pratt, 9th Battalion, of North Casino, NSW. A farmer prior to enlistment, Pte Pratt embarked from Brisbane with his brother, 7037 Pte Robert Edward Pratt, on HMAT Kyarra on 17 November 1916 with the 23rd Reinforcements. His brother died of meningitis while on the troopship. Pte David Pratt was wounded in France in April 1918 after transferring to the 49th Battalion. He was evacuated to hospital in England and embarked from Plymouth for Australia on HMT Sardinia (D24) on 19 October 1918. He died of influenza on board ship on 8 November 1918, aged 29.
