Hobden, Ronald Desmond
Description
Original three page handwritten letter by R25763 Constable Ronald Desmond Hobden, whilst serving in the Royal Australian Navy during the Second World War. The letter was affectionately written to his girlfriend Heather Baker, whom he married after the war. Written from Tokyo Bay, he describes several aspects of life in the days after the end of the war, including the British and American warships anchored in Toyko Bay, his hope that he will soon go home to Australia, and his emotion upon hearing the radio broadcasts from American Marines, who had been prisoners of war of the Japanese, to their families in the USA after their release.
