Studio portrait of 4333 Sapper (Spr) Angelo Gatti, 6th Australian Tunnelling Company, of Norseman, WA. A miner before enlisting in February 1916, Spr Gatti left Australia for England in June 1916. He disembarked at Capetown, South Africa, and was admitted to 2nd General Hospital with pneumonia, where he died on 22 June 1916, aged 28. Spr Gatti was the older brother of 6953 LCpl Pasquilino Gatti, 11th Battalion, who died of wounds at Ebblinghem, France, on 12 May 1918 (see P07844.001).
