Description
Sketch on a leaf torn from a small sketchpad, depicting a naval officer aboard the SS Minnewaska travelling from Alexandria, Egypt, and Lemnos Island. Benson recounts that they left Alexandria on Easter Saturday, 10th April, and arrived at Lemnos Island the following morning. Verso: rough sketch of figures sitting either on the ground or on stools around a table.
