Studio portrait of 3629 Acting Sergeant (Sgt) Victor Joseph Truscott, 21st Battalion, of Long Gully, Vic. A letter carrier prior to enlistment, Acting Sgt Truscott embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Demosthenes on 29 December 1915. Early in 1916 he transferred to the 60th Battalion and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. On 9 December 1916 Sgt Truscott died of trench foot and septic pneumonia at Etaples, France, aged 22.
