382 ECSS (Operation Falconer) patch
382 ECSS (Operation Falconer) patch. The patch is circular and has a brown cotton edge. The patch's background is tan coloured nylon, with '382' embroidered in brown cotton at the top of the badge and 'ECSS' at the bottom. In the middle of the badge is embroidered a hand holding the globe, with the RAAF eagle in full flight carrying an arrow.
Patch worn by members of 382 Expeditionary Combat Support Squadron during their deployment to Iraq in 2003 as part of the RAAF contingent of Operation Falconer, the Australian contribution to the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The RAAF contingent included; 14 F/A-18 Hornets with ground support from 75 Squadron, three C-130H Hercules aircraft and 150 support personnel from 36 Squadron, and two AP-3C Orion aircraft and 150 support personnel. 75 Squadron flew 350 operational sorties and dropped 122 Laser Guided Bombs, 36 Squadron flew logistics and combat support missions, and the 2 Orion aircraft flew electronic intelligence (ELINT) operations in the region.
