Studio portrait of NX69389 Corporal, later Sergeant (Sgt), Donald Arthur Murray, 2/3 Motor Ambulance Convoy, of Roseville, NSW. Sgt Murray enlisted in March 1941. He became a prisoner of war following the fall of Singapore on 15 February 1942 and was interned in Sandakan Prisoner of War Camp in North Borneo. Sgt Murray died on 25 March 1945 on the march from Sandakan to Ranau, Borneo. He was 40 years of age. Sgt Murray's brother, NX34248 Sgt Phillip Charles Murray, served in the 2/20 Battalion and was presumed killed in action in Singapore on 10 February 1942.
