Description

The 1942 Wesley College First Crew rowing team, 1942. Identified, left to right: Edward Lloyd Fleming (later O31869 Flying Officer Fleming, 550 Squadron); Kenneth George Donaldson (later VX94840 Sergeant Donaldson, 2/2 Pioneer Battalion); J H W Permezel; Leonard Clarence Weber (later PM5578 Able Seaman Weber, HMAS Lonsdale); Ian Stuart Parkin (later PM7227 Sub Lieutenant Parkin, HMAS Lonsdale); G J Pollock; Martin John Frusher Foley; R J Purdue; W I Duncan. Foley later enlisted with the RAAF in January 1943. While undertaking training at Deniliquin, NSW, with No 7 Service Flying Training School, 430205 Leading Aircraftman Foley was killed in an aircraft accident on 1 November 1943, aged 19.
