Studio portrait of 2621 Private William Richard Page, 38th Battalion of Botany, NSW. A tanner prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Benalla (A24) on 9 November 1916. He was killed in action during the battle of Messines, Belgium on 7 June 1917, aged 25. He was buried where he died. Post war, his grave was not located and he is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
