Studio portrait of 3261 Private Charles Waterhouse, 18th (later 3rd) Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A builder prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action, on 5 November 1916, in the trenches near Flers, France, aged 38. He is buried in the Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France.
