Studio portrait of 924 Private (Pte) William Deas Lumsden, H Company, 11th Battalion, of Albany, WA (originally Linlithgow, Scotland). A lumper prior to enlistment he embarked aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 2 November 1914. Pte Lumsden was wounded in action; a few days later he died at the Royal Victoria Netley Hospital, England on 30 July 1916, he was 22 years of age. Pte Lumsden is buried in the Linlithgow Cemetery, Scotland.
