Studio portrait of 2639 Private (Pte) Cecil Woods Giblett, 23rd Battalion, of Portarlington, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment he embarked from Melbourne with the 6th Reinforcements on board HMAT Ulysses (A38) on 27 October 1915. He later transferred to the 59th Battalion on 20 April 1916. Pte Giblett was reported missing and killed in action on 19 July 1916, aged 23. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the V.C. Corner, Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles, France.
