Informal portrait of NX5527 Private (Pte) Jack Wilson of Orange, NSW and NX4005 Pte Geoffrey William Andrew (right), both of 2/4 Battalion. Pte Andrew of Sydney, NSW, was killed in action at Crete on 20 May 1941, aged 32. Following his death, Pte Wilson sent this photograph to Pte Andrew's mother, writing on the verso "This photo of Dick was taken in front of the Acropolis, the ancient city of the Athens in Greece. Dick and I were on leave together. Dick may not have sent this photo to you, in case he did not, I am sending mine". See also P08877.002.
