Studio portrait of VX44445 Private (Pte) John Archibald O'Neill, 2/21 Battalion, of Rosanna, Vic. John O'Neill was a boot clicker prior to enlisting in July 1940. Following training in Victoria and New South Wales, the battalion moved to Darwin in March 1941 and were deployed to Ambon as part of Gull Force in December. Pte O'Neill was killed in action in Ambon on 15 January 1942. He was 19 years of age.
