Collection relating to the First World War service of 1173 Corporal William Henry Petrass, 22nd Battalion, Egypt and Gallipoli, 1915.
Wallet 1 of 1 consists of three letters written from Corporal Petrass to family friends John Calvert Bell and Irene Agatha Bell. The letters briefly describe his experiences in Cairo from where he relates stories of the disturbances caused by Australian troops, and at Gallipoli in his role as acting Quartermaster Sergeant. His letters describe the poor conditions he experienced at Gallipoli, and notes at length the violence and injury caused by artillery fire and praises the success of the evacuation of Gallipoli.
