Identity discs : Major General J J Murray
Description
One octagonal and one circular mother of pearl identity disc, both privately made, linked with a small metal ring. Both discs are engraved on the obverse 'NX365 / RC / MURRAY JJ', and on the reverse side 'A.2'.
History / Summary
Improvised mother of pearl identity discs made for Major General John Joseph Murray. They were made either in Palestine, when he served in the Middle East from about November 1940 to November 1941, or perhaps in Australia where he served until the end of his appointment in January 1946.
