Pair of identity discs: Private Charles Roy Spangler, 10 Battalion, AIF
Description
Pair of mother of pearl identity discs tied together on a length of brown cord. The discs are replicas of the officially issued octagonal No.1 disc and circular No. 2 disc. They each have carved into them the following details: 'C.R.SPANGLER. C.E. S.X.22981' on the obverse and 'O.4.' on the reverse.
History / Summary
Two improvised identity discs belonging to SX22981 Private Charles Roy Spangler. He served in the Citizen Military Force before he enlisted in the AIF. The discs may have been made in northern Australia where Spangler's unit, the 10th/48th Battalion, served. Spangler was discharged on 15 April 1944.
