Description
Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) Ian Griffiths (left) mans the ramp of Australian Army CH-47D Chinook A15-202 during combat training in Afghanistan. One of a series of photographs captured by the Australian Photographer Gary Ramage during a combat crew training mission south of Kandahar Air Base in Southern Afghanistan. Mission Duration 3.9 Hours. Other crew onboard the aircraft included Captain (Capt) James (Jim) Crowe (Pilot), Cpl Matthew Wilson (Aircrewman Technician), Captain Andrew McConville (Pilot) and Corporal (Cpl) Matthew (Matt) Dobson (Aircrewman). Cpl Dobson later noted: "Each of the 3 rear crew positions (Ramp gunner, left gunner, right gunner) are rotated throughout the mission to ensure each member can act in any role, increasing the versatility of the crew".
