For England and Freedom! Join the Territorial Army
Description
British Territorial Army recruiting poster. One of a series published in 1938 featuring artwork by Lance Cattermole. This poster is No. 8 of the series aimed at attracting English volunteers. In the foreground are three Territorial Army soldiers in full uniform training to use their rifles set against a lush green landscape. In the background is a full length portrait of an English Infantryman from the seventeenth century in front of a blue sky with billowing clouds. In his right hand is a sword and he is waving the flag of England, the St George's Cross, in his left. Both the image and text are set within a brown border. The Territorial Army badge is positioned prominently in the upper left corner.
