Flight crew shirt
Long sleeved desert tan flying suit shirt made from a blend of polyamide fabrics and carbon fibre. The shirt has a front zipper opening with a single zipper fastener running from the neck to below the waist. There are two chest pockets with angled openings with zippers. Above the left pocket is a rectangular Velcro tab and above the right pocket is an irregularly shaped Velcro tab.
The sleeves are full length with Velcro tabs to adjust the cuffs. On the underside of each sleeve are four ventilation holes. On the left sleeve just below the shoulder is a rectangular Velcro tab with an unadorned badge. Beneath the badge is a pocket set at an angle with a vertical zipper on the right side. On the outside of the pocket is another pocket, vertically divided to hold pens. A tan fabric flap covers this pocket and is secured with Velcro. A white fabric label sewn inside the collar gives manufacturer's and care details, and shows the size '96'. Another white fabric label is sewn into the right front seam of the shirt near the bottom.
Type example of aircrew clothing worn by Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force flight crews deployed to the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO).
