Studio portrait of 417820 Aircraftman (AC) Frederick Dyer. An apprentice sheet metal worker prior to enlistment, AC Dyer enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on 18 July 1942, after serving for six months with the 6th Army Troops Company as a Sapper. He trained under the Empire Air Training Scheme in Canada and was attached to both the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and the Royal Air Force (RAF), before being discharged from the RAAF in August 1945.
